We focus on areas where our efforts have the greatest impact. Our first community is Jerash Refugee Camp in Jordan—a home to over 35,000 displaced Gazans living in just 0.75 km². It is the poorest of Jordan’s ten Palestinian refugee camps.
Residents of Jerash camp lack Jordanian citizenship and only hold a 2-year temporary Blue Card, which excludes them from accessing public education. This means they must pay international tuition fees—three times higher than those for Jordanian citizens—making higher education nearly impossible.
Legal restrictions tied to non-citizen status contribute to extreme poverty, limiting access to healthcare, employment, education, and other essential services. Without access to education, residents struggle to find employment outside the camp, blocking opportunities for future generations.
The Heart of Orayeb scholarships aim to change this by providing educational opportunities to Jerash residents, helping them break the cycle of poverty and build a better future.
